PermaStone


Materials Needed:

  • Activa PermaStone
  • Measuring Spoon
  • Mixing Container
  • Water
  • Spoon
  • Flexible Gem Mold
  • Tray
  • Fine Sandpaper
  • Wood or Paper Mache’ Crown Form
  • Adhesive
  • Decorative Tissue Paper
  • Liquid Sealant
  • Acrylic Paint
  • Water Bowl
  • Paint Brush
  • Glitter
  • Gloss Varnish
  • Peel and Stick Letters

Step 1

Mixing

Mix compound according to package directions. Add 1.5 parts Perma Stone into 1 part water in a clean, disposable mixing container or bag.


Mix gently and slowly until a pancake batter consistency is reached.


Step 2

Pour

Place the mold into a tray.


Pour the Perma Stone mixture into the mold.


Gently tap or vibrate the mold on the try to release any air bubbles.


Step 3

Drying

Allow the Perma Stone to dry. Average setting time is approximately 20-30 minutes.


Step 4

Removal

Loosen the castings from the mold by gently pulling back on the mold’s edges.


Lift the castings completely out of the mold.


Step 5

Smooth

File down any rough edges on the castings using sandpaper or a file.


Step 6

Attach

Arrange the castings onto the crown form and adhere with adhesive.


Step 7

Cover

For a decorative finish: cut decorative tissue paper into small squares. Apply several layers on top of the crown form using liquid sealant.


For a simple finish: paint the crown form a solid color using paint.


Step 8

Paint

Paint the castings in a variety of color values ranging from light to dark with acrylic paint.


Gems may be coated with a glossy sealant or glitter to give them some added sparkle and shine.


Step 9

Name

A name can be added using paint, glitter, or peel and stick lettering.
