SIO-2® PRAF - White Sculpture/Raku Clay with Fine Grog

PRAF is a white sculpture and Raku clay body with 40% fine grog (up to 35 Mesh). Formulated for artistic ceramics, PRAF is ideal for sculpture, murals and Raku pieces.

The high content of grog confers a beautiful textured surface and an excellent behavior during drying and firing. Its particular ivory color after firing is unique and provides an excellent ware for glazes and coloring oxides, which develop bright and intense tones. It is also known as “Rafael” clay, and it is very popular because of its excellent behavior for Raku.

PRAF is available in extruded body (moist form).

How to do traditional raku: Fire to 1040 degrees Celsius or under 1900 degrees F in the raku kiln. It will take an hour to reach this temperature. Remove the hot pots with tongs and place them in a reduction nest or can. They will catch on fire. Cover them to cut the air off.
