Blackjack Clay - SS-2 Mined Stoneware Clay
Blackjack Clay is a blend of several natural clays mined from the earth in East Texas. The unique process of blending and wet screening results in a clay that has a silky smooth texture with great plasticity.
This stoneware clay has a chocolate brown color when wet, yet fires to a soft buff/tan color. It is excellent for throwing on a potter’s wheel, hand building, slab rolling and sculpting or modeling. This clay is good for beginners as well as professional artists.
This clay fires in a kiln from cone 6 – cone 8. It takes glazes well, and glazes can be applied directly to the greenware for single firing or to bisqueware with a second glaze firing. This clay is good for salt firing and raku firing. Always test fire for glaze compatibility.
